Coupeville, Whidbey Island, Wa

We’ve been having a great time visiting Jerry, Michelle, and Isabella at their home in Coupeville on Whidbey Island.  Michelle is baking goods for sale and tonight experimented with scones, which one of her clients requested.  The scones look scrupulous.

Earlier we took the ferry to Port Townsend.  There’s a wooden ship boat building and repair co-op at the east end of the town.  It was great fun visiting.  One of the boats is under construction.  A fellow pointed out the decking hanging on a wall and said, “that decking has been hanging there for four years.”  The boat is unfinished and looks like it will stay that way for a few more years.  There was an old sailboat sitting on a trailer for sale.  It was wide beamed with the mast stepped forward and gaff rigged.  She was far from beautiful, but would make a great day-sailer around the islands.  I enjoyed talking with the old hand who was originally from the Oakland/Berkeley area.  He’s worked around boats for many years.

I’ve opened up a photo album that I’ll populate with photos from our trip up, our visit here at Coupeville, and our trip back.   It’s wonderful reconnecting with old friends.
